“You’re f***ing up your teammates”: Former ESU basketball captain and previous assistant coach allege verbal abuse by Ostermann
A former Emporia State basketball team captain and previous assistant coach have raised concerns about alleged verbal abuse from Head Coach Brian Ostermann.
In December 2024, Faith Paramore, the former captain, shared an audio recording of a meeting she had with Ostermann prior to her November dismissal from the team. In the recording, Ostermann can be heard repeatedly cursing and shouting at Paramore, telling her, among other things, “You’re fucking up your teammates” and “You want somebody to fucking feel sorry for you.”
Following Paramore’s dismissal, Brianna Bogard, who worked under Ostermann as an assistant coach during the 2023-24 season, sent an email to ESU Athletics and administrators detailing her own experience and concerns with Ostermann. In a phone call with the Emporia Gazette obtained by The Bulletin, she said she believed Ostermann’s actions toward the team to be “abusive.”
