We are one week away from fall break — hooray! — but that also means midterms. Be sure to take some time for yourself next week! Fall break will begin Thursday, Oct. 9 and classes will resume the following Monday.

The Bulletin will not have a print issue next Thursday, but we will have a newsletter!

As a reminder, you can view last week’s print issue online via our homepage or pick up a physical copy at any of our campus distribution locations, including the Memorial Union.

ESU enrollment increases for first time since 2020

Emporia State’s enrollment for the 2025 academic year has increased 5.8 percent compared to 2024 with 4,820 enrolled students, according to 20 day enrollment data from the Kansas Board of Regents. The percent increase is the highest of all Regent state universities.

Whose stories belong?

When books get banned or challenged, the debate is often framed around “protecting children.” But with even a cursory look at the titles most frequently challenged, the truth of it is clear: these bans are less about shielding young people from inappropriate content and more about controlling whose stories get to exist in public life.

Why we need physical media

The other day I was scrolling through my streaming service subscriptions trying to find one that had my favorite movie in its catalogue. Out of the eight platforms I’m subscribed to, not one had it.

Officer responded to welfare check in Trusler Hall. Friends, family and staff unable to contact subject. Officer contacted subject in Plumb Hall and learned phone was left in room. Subject was good. Report taken. Case closed.
